Palliative Care

Who is it for?

Palliative care at Ridgegate Home is designed for individuals with life-limiting illnesses who need specialist support focused on comfort, dignity and quality of life rather than curative treatment. This may include those with advanced cancer, heart disease, respiratory conditions, or other serious progressive illnesses.

Our palliative care provides pain and symptom management, emotional and spiritual support, and assistance with daily living activities in a calm, compassionate environment. We work closely with healthcare professionals, hospice services, and family members to ensure comprehensive, coordinated care.

Palliative Care

Our Approach

Our care teams work closely with healthcare professionals to provide person-centred palliative care that prioritises comfort, dignity and quality of life. We focus on managing pain and symptoms effectively, while supporting emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

Each resident receives a personalised care plan developed in consultation with them, their family, and healthcare professionals. This plan addresses physical comfort, emotional support, spiritual needs, and end-of-life wishes, ensuring care is delivered with sensitivity and respect.

We provide a peaceful, comfortable environment in our beautiful period property with quiet lounges, accessible gardens, and private spaces for family visits. Our team is available 24 hours a day to provide support, companionship and care whenever needed.

Families are welcome to visit at any time, and we encourage involvement in care as much as desired. We understand this is a difficult journey, and we're here to support both residents and their loved ones with compassion and understanding.

TESTIMONIALS

What people say about us...

My dad has lived at Ridgegate Home for just over a year now and I couldn't be happier with the level of care he receives. Ridgegate is a friendly family home and is a lovely place to visit at any time of the day. My dad suffers with both physical and mental health issues and I am grateful to the attentive staff who make sure he is included in the many home activities.
I have no hesitation in recommending Ridgegate to others.

Daughter of Resident

November 2025

Respite care for mum went well and provided opportunity for a much needed break. All staff were helpful and courteous and mum was happy with her experience. She was able to get her hair done whilst there and made friends with many of the residents. Thanks for taking care of her!

Son of Resident

March 2025

My wife has been in Ridgegate for approximately for 2 years She initially arrived for respite care and then progressed to become a resident. She suffered from Lewy body dementia which affects her memory and physical movement. She is well looked after and seems to be very happy as much as you can tell. She interacts with the staff at all levels. I was well looked after and cared for by the dedicated and management team.

Husband of Resident

October 2024

The important questions

What is palliative care?

Palliative care is specialist care for people with life-limiting illnesses, focused on providing comfort, managing pain and symptoms, and maintaining quality of life. Unlike curative treatment, palliative care aims to improve comfort and wellbeing rather than cure the underlying condition. Care is offered within a peaceful, compassionate environment by staff experienced in providing end-of-life care. At Ridgegate Home, palliative care is personalised and delivered with sensitivity, with the resident's comfort, dignity and wishes always at the forefront. To learn more about the palliative care we offer, get in touch with our team today on 01737 242926.

What funding and support is available for palliative care?

Funding for palliative care may be available through NHS Continuing Healthcare, which provides full funding for those with complex health needs including palliative care needs. Local authority support and private payment are also options. We work with healthcare professionals to support funding applications and can provide guidance on available options. Contact us to arrange a consultation where we can discuss funding and support in detail based on your individual circumstances.
